DHTML Spotting: SGI has an inline popup search box, reducing the amount of real estate required for the search option but preventing the need to wait for another page load to be able to search (like the $^#$% mozilla.org site). It even works in Mozilla.

Carnegie Learning has a nice set of write-ups on their application of Anderson's ACT theory to tutoring in real world K-12 environments. This is one of the best success stories around for cognitive science. It is notable both for using a cognitive model of a person (and their learning capabilities) and for achieving artificial intelligence through the modelling of natural intelligence.
My view has always been that most AI systems are artificially stupid and that success will only be achieved through systems archictected to be simliar to human systems. In other words, stochastic, parallel, and fuzzy.
